ARRS-Funded Service for PCNs

Seamlessly integrating Health and Wellbeing
Coaches into your PCN

A fully managed ARRS service — so you can focus on what matters most. From recruitment and onboarding to clinical supervision and performance management, we handle it all.

Seamlessly integrating holistic wellbeing support into your PCN

We provide Primary Care Networks with a seamless, end-to-end managed service for Health and Wellbeing Coaches under the Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme (ARRS). From recruitment and onboarding to clinical supervision and performance management — we handle it all.

Health and Wellbeing Coaches are professionals who help people improve their overall physical, mental, and emotional health by supporting them in making sustainable lifestyle changes. Rather than diagnosing or treating medical conditions, they focus on guiding patients to set goals, build habits, and stay accountable.

With 30% of all GP appointments relating to lifestyle and non-clinical issues, Health and Wellbeing Coaches free up GP time, reduce unnecessary appointments and improve patient outcomes — making them one of the most impactful additions to any PCN team.

How Health & Wellbeing Coaches benefit your PCN?

Reduced GP Pressure

Non-clinical and lifestyle needs handled by the right professional — freeing GP appointments for complex clinical cases.

Prevention-First Care

Supporting patients before conditions escalate — reducing long-term demand on primary and secondary care services.

Maximised ARRS Funding

Fully reimbursable under ARRS — ensuring your PCN gets full value from its workforce allocation.

Whole-Person Outcomes

Addresses the lifestyle, behavioural and emotional factors that drive repeat attendance — improving outcomes at scale.

How we can support your PCN

A Health and Wellbeing Coach works collaboratively with patients to set personalised goals and adopt healthier behaviours. Here’s what a typical engagement looks like:

Helps patients set realistic health goals — better sleep, weight management, stress reduction

Supports behaviour change — improving diet, increasing exercise, reducing harmful habits

Uses motivational interviewing and evidence-based habit-building strategies

Keeps patients accountable and tracks progress over time

Encourages a balanced approach — mental, physical and emotional wellbeing

This role is most effective for patients who are driving GP demand without a clear clinical need — including:

  • Patients managing long-term conditions who need lifestyle support alongside clinical care
  • Those at risk of developing conditions such as type 2 diabetes or cardiovascular disease
  • Frequent attenders with no clear clinical cause for repeat appointments
  • Patients going through significant life changes — redundancy, burnout or bereavement
  • Those with physical and/or mental health conditions needing structured wellbeing support

A holistic approach to patient wellbeing

Health and Wellbeing Coaches take a whole-person view — supporting patients across a wide range of lifestyle and wellbeing areas.

Nutrition & Eating Habits

Physical Activity & Fitness

Stress Management

Sleep Routines

Work-Life Balance

Confidence & Mindset

Not a doctor or therapist — something different entirely

Understanding where Health and Wellbeing Coaches fit in your PCN’s clinical picture helps you get the most from the role.

Not a Doctor or Therapist

They don’t diagnose conditions or prescribe treatment. Their focus is on supporting lifestyle change — not clinical intervention. This keeps GP and clinical time free for complex cases.

More Holistic

Rather than addressing a single presenting issue, they look at the patient’s whole lifestyle — nutrition, sleep, stress, relationships and mental wellbeing — as interconnected factors.

Client-Led

The patient decides their own goals. The coach helps them get there — using motivational interviewing and accountability techniques to build lasting, sustainable change.
